1000 Island Privateers Implode(disband)

Tonight in Akwesasne the Privateers have only dressed 5 regular roster players and it's being mentioned by multiple sources that ownership has released 3/4 of the regular roster.

Goaltender Matt Kinsella quoted from the 1000 Island Privateers page on facebook and edited for language:

"The 1000 Islands Privateers Hockey season is over. The owner hasn't had our back since day 1. We've lost great guys and players Like Michael Richard and Vinny Geonnetti because they were concerned for the safety of themselves and the rest of the players during a brutal snowstorm. Today 95% of the team was fired. I'm asking everyone in the A-Bay and surrounding areas to please boycott the game tomorrow night. People's lives and jobs have been effected big time because of this Heartless, numbskull, (expletive) of an "owner""

Such a stunning revaltion leaves many to wonder about the viability of not only the Privateers but the league as a whole. Little respect is given to players and management groups that make decisions with safety in mind. Akwesasne earlier this season cancelled a road trip where they were suppose to play in the Maine event due to poor driving conditions and were heavily criticised by league officials. Now this...

The league is happy to gamble with the players safety in exchange for money and because of this one of the most competitive teams in the league has been dismantled and the investment by not only fans of the Privateers but teams that enjoyed watching a competitive Privateers team show up to play has been tossed out the window.

This is not only a show of disrespect to athletes but also fans and other owners. You reschedule you don't turn on your own players. This is a great way to bury an already struggling league.

What are your thoughts? Is this a sign of things to come?
