Aviators End The Season On A Winning Note

Brooklyn came back from two straight losses in NJ by filleting the BlueFins (7-3) at the Brooklyn Aviators Sports and Events Center, Hanger #5. It was a great New Years eve party for the Aviators and its fans last night in Brooklyn, NY.

Scoring came early and fast in the first period for Brooklyn and the BlueFins rookie goalie Mike Ronan # 33G was pulled after three NY pucks found their target early in the first period. . Chris Testa # 1G was next on the Aviators hit list and Chris suffered the same results as Ronan. Three more Brooklyn scores in the first period and at the end of one it was Brooklyn Aviators 6 and the Cape Cod BlueFins 1.

Rookie Andrew Owsiak #11C aka WOWsiak had a hat trick and Jesse Felten #20C had four assists. Lucas Schott #10C sank one  and is a good pick up from the Danbury  Whalers. Hanger #5 was rocking all night long and the New Year's party started early for the Aviators fans.

Second period the Aviators cooled down and were only able to get one more puck past Chris Testa # 1G. Brooklyn's Anthony Iaquinto # 7RW was the only score in the second period. This made it a 7-1 Brooklyn at the end of two.

Billy Tibbett's # 23C was up to his old business as usual , if we can't win fight. He was in the penalty box again, his home away from home. His style of playing is getting old and so is he at 37 years of age maybe he shouldn't try to compete with these young kids.

Third period the BlueFins scored twice in a losing effort. There was a lot of fast paced skating still in the third period and Brooklyn looked good on defense. They were taking players off the puck and they were also finishing off their checks which they haven't been doing for while. Let's hope that the Aviators continue their winning ways.

Brooklyn fans want to welcome Jeff Rose #35G to the Aviators organization and you did a nice job in the Cape Cod game. Rose has played for the Santa Fe Roadrunners of the NAHL, Suffolk University of the ECAC-NE and the Fayetteville Fire Antz of the SPHL.

A few side notes:  St. Pierre #38G suffered a concussion in the Friday night game in NJ and will be out for a while, he is day to day. Burn'em Bernier #18LW  suffered a foot injury also in NJ in the Thursday night game and has a cast on his right foot, Bernier will be out anywhere from 3-6 weeks.

I would like to wish everyone who reads this blog a very, very Happy New Year in 2012.  Thanks for showing support for this blog written by fans for fans, thanks again from Brooklyn, N.Y.
