Aviators Sputter Crash and Burn in OT Period of Playoffs!

FIRST PERIOD found the Aviators down three goals at the end of the first period. The Brooklyn crowd were feeling low and the prospects for a Friday night didn't look good at all. Two goals for the Whalers came within 21 seconds in the finale minute of play.

#9C M.Moucha scored the first goal for Danbury at the 7:18 mark of the first. #55D J.Sanford hit the nets for Danbury to make it 2-0 Whalers. #22RW N.Deschenes scored the third goal of the first period, this is how the period ended. 3-0 Whalers..... Aviators fans were still hoping for a comeback?

SECOND PERIOD The only marker was by Brooklyn Aviator #20C J.Felten. #16D H.Coxe was awarded a penalty shot and the Brooklyn fans were seeing a easy score. This was not to be as #29G P.Vetri was just a tad faster then #16D H.Coxe and made the save for the Whalers. At the end of two score is 2-1 in favor of the Danbury Whalers.

THIRD PERIOD and the Aviators scored the next three markers in this period. The first was scored by #2RW M.Thomson, second by 7C C.Campanale and go ahead marker was put home by #27RW C.Mignone. This made the match 4-3 Brooklyn Aviators.

The Brooklyn fans were feeling pretty good and smelling a playoff victory at home. The A's were playing great penalty killers and were on they way for a home victory. #26C A.Goupil from Danbury found the back of the Aviators goal with only 3 seconds left in the third period.

You could hear a massive groan from the A's fans when the puck found its home in the Aviators net. FOURTH PERIOD and Danbury didn't waste too much time to shoot the Aviators down.....At the 13:40 mark #14RW A.Willock sunk the puck for the Whalers and the match was there 5-4.

Danbury Whalers sunk by 9 HARPOONS planted into them by the Brooklyn Aviators, 9-2.

It was raining last night in Danbury but it wasn't rain this time, it was raining hockey pucks by the buckets full. Seems as if Danbury left their umbrella's at home and ended up soaked.

I'll give you the scoring by each period but forget the penalties, I would need 3 or 4 pages just for them alone. It was like watching a street hockey game with no rules. The Whalers have nothing over the BlueFins for sure, last night they were the champs of cheap shots.

First Period scoring was as follows: Aviators #7C Watson at 1:42, Aviators 20C Felten at the 3:52 mark and Aviators #7C Watson his second on a power play at 7:08. This is how the the first period ended 3-0 Brooklyn.

Second Period scoring as follow: Brooklyn's #20C Felten on a power play and that was all the scoring for that period. Second period ended with Brooklyn having the advantage 4-0. There was almost a hockey game during the second period, who knew?

Third Period scoring: Whaler's #83C Seifert at the 2:21 mark to make the game 4-1 Brooklyn. Aviators #7C Watson scored on a power play goal at the 10:53 mark giving him his HAT TRICK! Aviators #9RW Petriello at the 11:11 mark scored making it 6-1 in favor of the Aviators.

A's #14C Dabkowski hit the net at the 12:14. A's #27RW Mignone found goal at the 13:07 mark making it 8-1 Brooklyn. Ex Whaler #10C Schott hit the net at 15:15 and Whalers #18RW Moffat scored on a shot handed goal making the final score 9-2 Brooklyn!

Shots on goal are: Brooklyn 61 and a total of 20 for the Danbury Whalers.

Goalies from Danbury #29G P. Vetri and #39G N. Niedert
Goalies for Brooklyn:  #38G J. St. Pierre

Power Plays: 7 for 17 for Brooklyn and 0 for 3 for Danbury.
